Problem: Food waste.
Insight: People don’t realize how much food waste is produced just from coffee grounds.
Solution: In partnership with nonprofit organizations, Starbucks will repurpose the waste from coffee grounds into eco-friendly plastic packaging and cups and stronger cement used to help rebuild sidewalks in low-income communities
New Technology from the Last 3 Years: Sustainable construction and bio-waste in cement (technology that allows bio-waste to be recycled successfully into cement and construction)
